Michael Davies

Michael was born on the farm in 1928, he studied agriculture at Writtle College. In 1963 he was a founder member of West Essex Farmers and continued as chairman for 16 years. Michael was asked by the NFU to join the Lee Conservancy and eventually became chairman of flood defence committee of the Thames Water Authority, with responsibility for the Thames Barrier. He was also a verderer of Epping Forest for 25 years.

Andrew Davies

Andrew is the 3rd generation of the Davies family to have run the farm. Andrew expanded the business with the purchase of The Hydes in 1988. He is a graduate of St John’s College, Cambridge and spent a year working on a farm in America in1976. Andrew has three children. Jessie, Michael and Anna and is the proud grandfather to Hunter and Walker.

Jeremy Durrant

Jeremy took over the running of the business in May 2009. He grew up on a mixed dairy and arable farm in Dorset. In 2001 he spent a year working on a farm in Australia. Jeremy lives at The Hydes with his wife Maria and daughters Annabelle and Matilda. 

Alan Law

Alan started work at The Hydes when he was 17 in 1973. He has probably seen the biggest changes happen at The Hydes with the change of ownership, the modern era of precision farming and latterly the introduction of livestock. Alan spends much of his time driving the Case Quadtrac planting our crops. He lives in one of the farm properties where his three boys Adam, Chris and Jon have all grown up.

Keith Barnard

Keith grew up on the farm at Waltham Abbey, his mother and father Win and Horace both worked for E W Davies Farms. Keith is responsible for looking after the farm and commercial units at Waltham Abbey. Keith lives with his wife Petra and two children Alec and Nicole.

Josh Bennett

Josh joined us in January 2018, his is responsible for our pig unit as well as day to day responsibility for our flock of sheep. He also helps out with the arable when required. Josh studied to get a degree in agriculture at The Royal Agricultural University Cirencester, after gaining some practical experience he hopes to go into farm management one day.
